Job description

About Fleek

Fleek is on a mission to revolutionize the secondhand fashion supply chain, which currently results in 60% of clothing ending up in landfill due to an outdated, offline, and manual process. As a B2B platform empowered by AI technology, Fleek connects vintage stores, online resellers, and retail buyers with wholesalers and rag houses globally. Leveraging FleekSort—an AI model that grades, prices, and categorizes items via photo recognition—the company creates a structured and tradable inventory system, transforming the opaque secondhand market.

Since 2022, Fleek has redirected 9 million garments from landfills, experienced triple growth year-over-year, and secured approximately $50 million in funding from prominent investors. Serving thousands of customers across the UK, Europe, and the US, Fleek is positioned to lead the $350 billion secondhand fashion market projected by 2027 by developing an AI-native operational and financial backbone worldwide.

Role Overview

At Fleek, the People function is critical to growth. The company is redefining talent development, compensation, performance, organization, and career progression for a new AI-enabled era. The Vice President of People will architect and launch a global people operation connecting teams in London, Karachi, and Bangalore—creating frameworks that empower individuals to excel and innovating what people leadership looks like in an AI-driven workplace.

Reporting directly to the CEO and participating in the senior leadership team, this role calls for designing Fleek's operating system, building all aspects of the people function including organizational design, performance management, and talent standards, and fostering a cohesive culture across multiple locations with diverse work norms. The VP People will also implement AI to enhance people processes, guide leadership on organizational strategies, address compliance across regions, and define communication rhythms to maintain alignment within a fast-paced, distributed team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and deploy Fleek’s global operating system, unifying working methods, communication structures, and decision-making processes across London, Karachi, and Bangalore.
  • Develop and implement the full people function encompassing organizational design, leveling frameworks, compensation philosophy, performance systems, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Enhance talent quality by establishing hiring standards, investing in personal development, and fostering high performance where each individual achieves multiplied productivity.
  • Maintain cultural consistency and synergy among geographically dispersed teams with different working styles and expectations.
  • Partner closely with founders by offering coaching and strategic guidance on people decisions and organizational leadership.
  • Integrate AI-driven solutions into people processes to maximize leverage without growing headcount excessively.
  • Address and close compliance and risk gaps in various jurisdictions, supported by regional HR experts.
  • Define and maintain the company’s operating cadence, including rituals and communication patterns essential to coordination across a fast-moving, distributed workforce.

Candidate Profile

  • Over seven years of professional experience including a minimum of two to three years in people-related roles; prior backgrounds in operations, commercial functions, product, strategy, consulting, or general management with a purposeful shift into people leadership are welcomed.
  • Track record of building a people function from scratch rather than refining an existing one.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple cultures and geographies.
  • Demonstrated long-term impact from people decisions taken in previous roles.
  • Ability to engage as a trusted advisor and coach with founders, rather than solely providing transactional services.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Continual learner with a hunger for understanding emerging tools and organizational methodologies.
  • Ambitious and driven to create exceptional organizations rather than maintaining the status quo.
  • A proven change agent who has led transformational initiatives.
  • Hands-on attitude and willingness to dive in to develop systems personally.

Work Environment

Fleek operates primarily in-office, valuing the dynamic synergy and immediacy of collaboration when working physically together, particularly at their London headquarters in Shoreditch where most staff work 3-4 days per week. The company trusts employees and measures output by performance rather than strict attendance rules.

Additional Details

  • Office location: London HQ, Shoreditch
  • Work model: Primarily in person with flexible arrangements based on trust
  • Company stage: Post-Series B, undergoing rapid growth
  • Team size: Over 100 employees worldwide including about 20 in the London office

Fleek’s Core Values

  • Dream Big and Disrupt Yourself: Pursue ambitious goals and challenge personal limits.
  • Absolute Ownership: Take full responsibility; see initiatives to completion.
  • Curiosity Leads the Way: Question assumptions to foster innovation.
  • Talk to the Customer: Focus decisions on customer understanding and needs.
