Job description

Role Overview

This executive position is centered on guiding and scaling a Power Delivery business focused on Transmission & Distribution across the North East region of the United States. The role is remote, but it requires frequent travel—roughly 30% to 50%—throughout the North East.

The hiring organization is an engineering, construction, and infrastructure services provider serving major utilities and power infrastructure owners nationwide. Backed by more than $1 billion in secured project backlog, the business has strong long-term momentum, established utility relationships, and continued investment in the Transmission & Distribution market.

The person in this role will drive operational performance, shape growth strategy, deepen senior client partnerships, expand revenue, and lead a high-performing operations organization delivering complex T&D work. Beyond day-to-day operations, this is a chance to influence the future direction of a fast-growing business and strengthen an already significant market presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all operational functions across the Transmission & Distribution business at an executive level.
  • Oversee multiple regional operations groups delivering transmission lines, substations, grid modernization, and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Own divisional financial performance, including P&L, forecasting, budgeting, and overall results.
  • Create and implement growth strategies to increase market share across the North East.
  • Build and sustain relationships with senior leaders at investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, and cooperative clients.
  • Work in close partnership with business development teams to identify, pursue, and win new work.
  • Improve performance across safety, quality, execution, scheduling, and financial outcomes.
  • Hire, coach, and develop strong operational leadership talent.
  • Put succession planning and leadership development practices in place across the business.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and on time.
  • Track key operating measures such as backlog, margins, utilization, forecasting, and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term strategy and investment planning.
  • Promote a culture built on safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Spot opportunities to improve operations, expand geography, and deepen market penetration in the North East.

Required Background

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a closely related field.
  • At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in the power delivery sector.
  • Executive-level experience managing large regional or national operations.
  • Demonstrated success leading transmission and distribution businesses.
  • Hands-on ownership of P&L and responsibility for financial performance.
  • A strong history of growing an operating division, increasing revenue, expanding market share, and building long-term client relationships.
  • Established executive relationships with major investor-owned utilities and key transmission clients across the North East.
  • Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams across several locations.
  • Solid understanding of EPC delivery models, self-perform construction, and utility contracting.
  • Strong commercial judgement, including contract management, risk oversight, and profitability management.
  • A collaborative leadership approach with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.

Why This Role Stands Out

This opportunity offers the stability of a financially strong business together with the upside of significant growth potential. With a project backlog exceeding $1 billion, the organization has a healthy pipeline of work, long-standing utility partnerships, and a strong reputation for delivering complex Transmission & Distribution projects across the country.

The selected leader will have the autonomy, executive backing, and resources needed to grow a successful operation, strengthen client relationships, attract and develop top-tier talent, and help define the company’s long-term strategy.

For an executive who prefers building and scaling businesses rather than simply maintaining them, this role offers the chance to make a lasting impact while leading one of the most compelling growth stories in the North East power delivery market.
