Job description
Company Overview
Bastion specializes in creating regulated financial infrastructure tailored for modern enterprises. Their comprehensive product suite encompasses stablecoin issuance, custodial wallet solutions, and global asset conversion systems, designed to be deployed individually or as integrated end-to-end services.
Operating with a compliance-first mindset, Bastion ensures rigorous risk management and security throughout its financial operations. The company holds its own regulatory licenses and also supports clients by offering compliance and financial operations services under client licenses.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Vice President of Finance to architect scalable finance systems, processes, and frameworks. This hands-on leadership position demands ownership over all financial aspects from month-end closings and regulatory filings to developing financial models that guide capital allocation and product pricing.
The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in accounting and financial reporting fundamentals, coupled with strategic finance capabilities. Candidates from controller or senior accounting backgrounds with exposure to strategic finance are preferred, especially those adept at handling detailed journal entries, customer-level profit and loss models, pricing strategies, and board-level financial presentations.
Experience within tightly regulated sectors, especially financial services, is highly valued. Bastion functions under a New York Department of Financial Services trust charter, requiring specific regulatory financial reporting compliance. However, the primary necessity is a strong technical accounting foundation, robust control disciplines, and sound judgment in navigating regulated environments. Regulatory specifics can be taught to qualified candidates.
This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Although a New York City office location is preferred, we consider applicants nationwide.
Key Responsibilities and Milestones
First 30 Days:
- Dive deeply into Bastion’s financial infrastructure and processes.
- Review all current regulatory filing obligations: schedules, responsible parties, and filing protocols.
- Engage with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to understand regulatory framework and upcoming changes.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to map out workflows, especially where accounting and treasury intersect.
- Evaluate current FP&A cycles including budgeting, actuals tracking, and leadership’s spending visibility.
Outcomes: Fully understand the company’s financial status, closing procedures, and regulatory reporting without needing assistance. Deliver assessments of internal controls with prioritized improvement plans. Build strong rapport with finance and cross-functional teams.
By 90 Days:
- Manage month-end closing activities, streamlining cycle times and accuracy while eliminating manual processes.
- Take charge of regulatory filings ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and institutional knowledge sharing.
- Establish a robust FP&A reporting rhythm including monthly variance analysis and departmental cost allocations.
Outcomes: Regular close cycles with documented step-by-step procedures comprehensible by the entire team. Reliable, auditable, and timely regulatory submissions. Provision of actionable financial reports for leadership use. Internal controls documented and initial testing underway targeting high-risk areas.
By 180 Days:
- Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning cycle linking revenue targets to operational metrics.
- Prepare finance operations for expanding regulatory demands by preemptively scaling controls and reporting.
- Assess team competencies, identify gaps, make hires, and build the finance organization for future needs.
Outcomes: A mature finance function exceeding regulatory and client expectations. Trusted and accurate financial data accessible to the board and executives. A documented and tested internal controls environment ready for regulatory and customer scrutiny.
Equal Opportunity and Compensation

Salary Range: $200,000 - $275,000 annually.
