Job description
Position Summary
We are looking to appoint a Vice President of Finance / Controller for IM8, a US-based company, to take full ownership of the company's finance operations as it grows. This role combines high-level public company controllership with proactive strategic finance responsibilities. It involves maintaining an accurate, audit-ready close process and SEC reporting while providing critical financial insights to support business decisions. The successful candidate will work in a hands-on manner, streamlining processes to enable fast business operations without compromising control. This position is designed for a resourceful, commercially minded professional who is ambitious about securing competitive advantages.
Key Duties
- Lead the complete accounting function and ensure quick and precise monthly and quarterly financial closings across different entities and countries.
- Act as the technical expert on US GAAP matters, specifically covering revenue recognition, inventory, cost of goods sold, and other complex judgment areas relevant to a direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand.
- Take charge of SEC filings and reporting including 10-Q and 10-K, ensuring punctual and full SEC compliance as part of a publicly listed group.
- Design, implement, and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls and collaborate with auditors to remain audit-ready at all times.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models that actively influence business strategy, working closely with commercial, growth, and operations teams to validate unit economics, margins, and expenditures.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions; oversee the annual financial audit.
- Build and lead the finance team, adjusting team size and systems to scale operations effectively, prioritizing increased throughput followed by process optimization.
- Work with flexibility across non-US time zones to collaborate smoothly with global teams and partners.
Success Indicators
- Achieving a smooth, reliable close cycle with flawless SEC reporting and audits.
- Maintaining SOX controls that support growth without hindering business agility.
- Positioning finance as a strategic business partner shaping decisions rather than a mere processing function.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Six to ten or more years of progressively senior experience in finance and accounting.
- Leadership experience in finance/accounting within a US publicly traded company.
- Active CPA certification.
- Extensive, up-to-date knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Expertise in SEC compliance, filing (10-K, 10-Q), and SOX/internal controls.
- Experience in consumer health and/or wellness sectors.
- A strategic finance approach with the ability to be hands-on in a fast-changing environment.
Preferred Experience
- Background with fast-growing, scaling direct-to-consumer consumer brands.
- Proven ability to combine controllership and strategic FP&A functions.
- Experience building and adjusting finance teams during rapid organizational changes.
Additional Requirements
This role demands daily, fluent use of AI tools integrated into financial modeling, analysis, reporting, and process improvements to elevate the finance function's effectiveness. Candidates must be adept at embedding AI technologies in all workflows from day one.
