Role summary

The Vice President of Business Development will own Sunly’s growth strategy in a remote, full-time capacity. This leader will uncover new market opportunities, develop and manage strategic partnerships, and oversee the full business development cycle from sourcing opportunities through qualification and deal closure. The role includes market analysis, business plan development, support for sales initiatives, and close coordination with internal teams to ensure the company’s offerings align with client needs.

Key responsibilities

In this position, you will guide contract discussions, nurture relationships with strategic accounts, and create processes that improve the sales pipeline. You will also mentor business development and sales team members, establish performance goals, and share progress updates with senior leadership.

Qualifications and experience

Successful candidates should bring strong expertise in new business development and business planning, including opportunity identification, go-to-market design, and scalable growth strategy creation. Experience in contract negotiation is essential, especially in preparing, reviewing, and closing complex commercial agreements. A solid background in sales and account management is also required, with demonstrated ability to grow revenue and maintain durable client relationships. The role calls for proven leadership of high-performing teams, including coaching and developing business development and sales professionals. Candidates must also have excellent analytical, strategic, and communication abilities, along with confidence in presenting business cases and influencing senior stakeholders. Because the role is remote and fast-paced, strong organization and self-management are important. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline is expected, while an MBA or similar advanced degree is a plus. Experience in growth-oriented, innovative industries and familiarity with digital tools and CRM platforms will be beneficial.
