Job description
About the Organization
This opportunity sits with a global food-safety leader that supports major food and beverage manufacturers in running safe, responsible, and scalable operations. The company goes beyond auditing by helping define industry standards and training the specialists who apply them. Its work is backed by a nonprofit mission centered on education and research, giving the business a strong purpose-driven foundation.
The organization is in a deliberate phase of investment in its people and is seeking an HR executive who can help shape the function alongside the CEO rather than simply maintain existing processes. The role comes with a small, capable team and meaningful authority to influence how HR is organized, staffed, and led in the future.
Role Overview
The Vice President of Human Resources will serve as a strategic leader with broad ownership across the HR function. This is a high-trust, high-visibility position with exposure to executive leadership and the Board of Trustees, along with international responsibility across the US, LATAM, and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy aligned with business growth.
- Lead the full HR agenda, including hiring, compensation and benefits, organization development, employee relations, compliance, and culture.
- Shape how the HR function is structured, with the freedom to design the team, roles, and operating model beneath this position.
- Guide a globally distributed workforce spanning the United States, Latin America, and Europe.
- Manage and develop the current team of three direct reports, with the ability to rework responsibilities and future headcount as needed.
- Build succession planning, leadership development, and the broader talent pipeline required for the company’s next phase of growth.
- Own compensation, benefits, and HRIS direction to ensure programs are competitive, compliant, and well governed.
- Prepare materials and present directly to the Board of Trustees when required.
- Support people strategy for future growth initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, and integration activity.
- Lead the organization through transformation and change with a practical, business-focused approach.
Candidate Profile
The preferred background includes experience in food ingredients, scientific services, or other service-based business environments. The company is looking for someone who has worked across more than one organization and can bring a broader perspective rather than relying on a single operating model.
International experience outside the United States is important, and the ideal candidate should enjoy operating as a broad HR generalist rather than staying within one specialist area. The role calls for a strategic thinker who can look ahead and build for the future, as well as someone comfortable working with real autonomy and a significant degree of freedom.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Master’s degree or MBA is considered an advantage.
- Senior-level HR leadership experience in a global or multi-site organization is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in food ingredients, scientific services, or a service-model business is preferred.
- Exposure to more than one organization or operating environment is expected.
- International HR experience beyond the US is required.
- Comfort handling the full HR remit and operating with substantial independence is important.
Work Arrangement
This is a fully remote position with international scope.
Additional Information
This role is intended for an HR leader who wants to help build the function, not just run it. It offers uncommon visibility, broad scope, and the chance to influence people strategy at a pivotal stage of growth.
