Job description

About the Company

Maternal Newborn Health Innovations (MNHI) is a public benefit corporation dedicated to reducing avoidable pain, injury, and death for mothers and newborns during childbirth. The organization is advancing OdonAssist™, an inflatable assisted-birth device intended to help clinicians support vaginal delivery more gently and safely in cases of prolonged or complex second-stage labor.

OdonAssist is the first genuinely new birth-assistance device developed in more than a century. It has been in development for over ten years, backed by roughly $25 million in investment, and has progressed through simulated and human clinical testing. The device has obtained CE certification and is already available to selected hospitals in Italy, the UK, France, Spain, and Germany. MNHI plans to expand commercialization to additional countries and regions once local regulatory approvals are secured.

Maternal and newborn health remains a major global concern, with hundreds of thousands of maternal deaths and millions of severe birth-related complications each year. Newborn mortality and stillbirths are also substantial, with a large share occurring during childbirth. Governments and health agencies continue to identify this area as a critical unmet need for medical innovation.

Role Overview

The Vice President, Global Supply Chain will own the end-to-end global supply chain strategy and execution across manufacturing partners, material suppliers, logistics providers, and distribution channels. The role is responsible for creating a simpler, more scalable, and highly effective supply chain in a fast-growing, highly regulated, mission-led business.

This environment currently relies heavily on manual processes and has limited automation. A major part of the mandate is to evaluate, design, and implement the systems, tools, and data infrastructure needed to support a global startup at scale. That includes planning, inventory control, visibility, and partner integration solutions, alongside standardized processes and dependable data foundations.

The team is small, and this position will initially function as a one-person department while working closely with Operations, Customer Care, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Commercial, Finance, and other functions. The ideal candidate will combine strategic leadership with strong hands-on execution to build a modern, efficient, system-enabled supply chain ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Own the global supply chain operating model and define clear accountability across Europe, the US, East Asia, and South Asia.

Simplify supply chain workflows and reduce organizational complexity.

Lead the transition from a largely manual operating model to a scalable, systems-driven supply chain.

Set up governance, decision-making frameworks, and escalation routes across functions.

Lead the global Sales & Operations Planning process and ensure demand, supply, production, and financial plans are aligned.

Manage inventory strategy and placement across distributors and MNHI distribution centers.

Improve working capital through better inventory levels, lead times, and cash flow management.

Maintain supply continuity in a manufacturing environment that may shift between start and stop cycles.

Develop and manage strategic relationships with 4PL/3PL partners, distributors, manufacturing partners such as Jabil, and raw material/component suppliers.

Oversee the design of the global logistics and distribution network.

Take part in partner selection, performance reviews, and audits in coordination with Quality.

Ensure supply chain inputs are incorporated into go-to-market planning.

Supervise raw material planning, supply planning, execution, and distribution flows.

If based in Europe, also provide oversight for Operations and regional supply chain partners.

Align supply chain activity with customer care and order management.

Evaluate and implement supply chain systems such as planning and visibility tools.

Replace manual workflows with scalable, repeatable processes.

Strengthen data accuracy and operational transparency across the supply chain.

Build and guide a small, globally distributed supply chain team.

Establish the regional support structure after hire.

Create a single accountable supply chain function and break down silos.

Adjust and realign existing roles where needed.

Ensure compliance with medical device and pharmaceutical regulatory expectations.

Maintain strong standards for traceability, quality, and documentation.

Support expansion into new markets such as the Middle East, India, and the US.

Requirements

At least 10 years of experience in global supply chain leadership.

Background in the medical device or pharmaceutical sector.

Demonstrated success in building or transforming supply chain systems.

Proven experience managing 3PL/4PL partners and distributor networks.

Experience with both direct-to-market and distributor-led commercial models.

Comfort working across time zones and traveling internationally when needed.

Strong enterprise leadership style with the ability to stay hands-on.

Ability to perform effectively in ambiguous settings with immature systems.

Track record of simplifying and improving complex, fragmented supply chains.

Balanced strategic thinking and day-to-day execution capability.

Cross-cultural leadership experience across Europe, Asia, and the US.

Ability to influence stakeholders in commercial, finance, and operations teams.

Resilience and adaptability in a demanding workload environment.

Commitment to MNHI’s mission and values, including inclusivity, teamwork, and personal accountability.

Additional Information

MNHI is looking for a leader who can help build a modern global supply chain function from the ground up while operating in a purpose-driven, highly regulated setting. The role calls for both strategic design and practical execution, with a strong focus on systems, process discipline, and scalable growth.
