Jefferies Asset Management (JefAM), a division of Jefferies Financial Group, manages $65 billion across 18 private capital and hedge boutiques. Employing balance sheet capital to incubate strategies before opening them to external investors, JefAM leverages Jefferies' brand, capital resources, business development, and institutional infrastructure to bolster its investment management endeavors.
Role Overview
We are looking for a senior Consultant Relations professional based in New York or select US cities (Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, West Coast) to lead client relationships and business development efforts. This role involves working closely with senior JefAM leadership to grow our alternative asset management business by managing and strengthening relationships with institutional investors. Remote work is possible for candidates outside New York City.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive JefAM’s fundraising initiatives and support business development activities for JefAM investment products.
- Develop and nurture relationships with prospective and existing institutional investors.
- Present investment strategies and articulate JefAM's competitive advantages independently or alongside senior distribution team members across the US.
- Manage all phases of the sales cycle, including market research, targeting potential clients, and coordinating proposal responses.
- Oversee new client onboarding, compliance reviews, and coordinate with legal, compliance, accounting, and distribution teams.
- Support client relations by responding to inquiries, organizing portfolio review meetings, and aiding due diligence processes including RFPs and DDQs.
- Maintain deep knowledge of portfolio holdings and collaborate on preparing client-facing updates and marketing materials.
- Lead and coordinate multiple special projects related to client service and marketing initiatives.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree and/or CFA preferred. Series 3, 7, and 63 licenses are advantageous.
- 7+ years of relevant experience with 10-15 years in the investment management industry, including significant capital raising from institutional investors focused on alternatives.
- Proven success in fundraising across a diversified range of alternative investment strategies.
- Experience collaborating with investment consultants and managing detailed compliance questionnaires and due diligence processes.
- Strong analytical aptitude and ability to clearly present investment concepts and firm positioning.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail, and work independently or collaboratively.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of engaging sophisticated institutional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and cooperation in complex organizational settings.
- Knowledge of compliance standards and regulatory requirements crucial in a highly regulated financial environment.
Compensation and Benefits
The position, located in New York City, offers a base salary range of $175,000 to $200,000 annually. Full-time eligible employees have access to comprehensive benefits including discretionary incentives and retention bonuses, medical, dental, vision plans, 401(k) retirement savings, life and disability insurance, wellness programs, paid time off including planned vacation, sick leave, holidays, and parental leave.
