Vice President - Civil Engineering Commercial Real Estate

Position Overview

Our client, a leading national conglomerate, is seeking to appoint a highly experienced Vice President for Real Estate & Infrastructure based in Pune (Viman Nagar & Mundhwa). This senior leadership role demands a seasoned civil engineering professional with over 15 years of expertise in managing large-scale commercial construction and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will lead project execution, overseeing multi-disciplinary teams while engaging closely with project management consultants, contractors, developers, and architects to ensure outstanding delivery within timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complete lifecycle project execution of significant commercial building and infrastructure developments.
• Ensure projects meet deadlines, adhere to approved budgets, maintain superior quality, and fulfill organizational objectives.
• Collaborate strategically with senior leadership including the President and Group Head of Real Estate & Infrastructure.
• Provide hands-on leadership at the construction sites, driving operational discipline and proactive management.
• Manage day-to-day project plans, monitoring progress, reporting, and conducting reviews for continuous improvement.
• Supervise construction activities including commercial buildings, steel structural works, infrastructure, and ecosystem enhancements.
• Lead site execution teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational standards.
• Coordinate with PMC, architects, structural and MEP consultants, contractors, and developers to ensure timely delivery of required documentation, designs, and approvals.
• Negotiate commercially and technically with external stakeholders to optimize project outcomes.
• Provide in-depth technical guidance across multiple facets such as commercial buildings, structural steel frameworks, high-rise projects, MEP systems, finishes, facade, landscaping, and external developments.
• Operate and enforce PMO frameworks encompassing schedule management, risk control, governance, and compliance with ISO, LEED, sustainability standards, and statutory requirements.
• Promote digital innovation through BIM, AI-enabled monitoring, smart building technologies, and digital construction methodologies.
• Lead, mentor, and build capable teams while cultivating a work culture prioritizing accountability, collaboration, safety, quality, and continuous process enhancement.
• Handle major challenges such as balancing accelerated timelines with quality, managing stakeholders, resolving complex site issues, and championing new technology adoption in construction.
• Make critical project decisions including construction sequencing, technical assessments, resource allocation, risk mitigation, contractor negotiations, and operational strategies within governance frameworks.
• Engage proactively with internal departments including finance, legal, procurement, IT, administration, facility management, and senior management, alongside external entities like PMC, consultants, contractors, regulatory authorities, and master developers.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in large-scale commercial real estate and infrastructure projects.
• Educational requirements: Mandatory Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech); MBA or postgraduate qualification in Construction or Project Management preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership with a successful track record in delivering commercial steel building projects and high-rise construction.
• Strong familiarity with reputed developers, EPC firms, infrastructure companies, or real estate organizations.
• Expertise in project governance, contractor management, budgeting, risk assessment, safety and regulatory compliance, quality control, and digital construction tools.
• Exceptional negotiation, decision-making, execution skills, and a proactive ownership mindset.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM, Primavera, MS Project, Tekla, Revit, and digital project management software.
• Exposure to AI-driven construction technologies is advantageous.

• Compensation range: INR 6,000,000 to 9,000,000 per annum.
