Role overview

The Vice President of Business Operations is a senior, full-time remote leadership position focused on running the company’s day-to-day operational, financial, and program delivery functions. The role is responsible for shaping and improving internal processes, keeping service delivery efficient across HR consulting, capacity building, and environmental services, and ensuring performance stays aligned with business and operating goals.

Core responsibilities

You will work closely with executive leadership to turn strategic priorities into practical operating plans, oversee budgets and allocation of resources, and monitor key performance indicators. The role also involves leading cross-functional teams, removing operational blockers, applying strong project and program management practices, and making sure activities follow internal policies as well as external regulatory obligations.

In addition, this leader will contribute to business growth by sharing operational input that supports development efforts, improving client onboarding and client engagement workflows, and coaching managers to strengthen a high-performing, client-centered culture.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience in business operations and operations management, ideally with a background in designing and improving processes within professional services.
  • Strong analytical capability to work with data, define useful metrics, interpret trends, and support decisions with evidence.
  • Hands-on program management experience covering planning, execution, risk handling, and coordination of stakeholders across several initiatives.
  • Good command of finance-related responsibilities such as budgeting, forecasting, controlling costs, and understanding the main drivers of profit and loss.
  • Prior leadership experience in a senior operations position, preferably in consulting, HR services, environmental services, or a closely related industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, including experience guiding remote or distributed teams.
  • A balance of strategic thinking and practical execution, with comfort working in a fast-moving, growth-focused environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, or a similar discipline; an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HR consulting, compliance frameworks, and/or environmental and occupational health and safety services would be an advantage.
