Overview
Join the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) as a Vehicle Monitoring Officer, playing an essential role in promoting safety and compliance throughout Australia's heavy vehicle sector. This permanent full-time position is based in Brisbane, Parramatta, or Port Melbourne, focusing on monitoring incidents and enforcing regulations related to heavy vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate incidents detected by heavy vehicle monitoring systems, ensuring alignment with policies, procedures, business rules, and project documentation, particularly for the Victorian 'No Truck Zone' regulatory services.
- Collaborate with interstate personnel and stakeholders to establish operating protocols for regulating 'No Truck Zone' operators.
- Conduct investigations and undertake enforcement actions on suspected breaches identified via monitoring systems.
- Exercise authority as an Authorised Officer under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), including issuing directives, infringement notices, formal warnings, and other sanctions to operators and drivers.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records and databases; retrieve and archive information as required.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in regulatory investigations and enforcement, including preparing evidence briefs and applying sanctions to improve compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex information.
- Effective independent work ethic combined with teamwork skills, showing initiative, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Capable of prioritizing tasks and meeting rigorous deadlines efficiently.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to represent NHVR in legal contexts.
- Knowledge of the HVNL is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Must hold a current motor vehicle driver license.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel as needed.
