Job description

Role overview

This permanent full-time opportunity is for a vehicle inspector and valuer in Warrington. The role sits alongside the sales team and carries responsibility for agreeing valuations on customers’ existing vehicles. You’ll be expected to speak confidently with customers, present used-car valuations clearly, and apply your growing product knowledge with enthusiasm.

About the company

Big Motoring World is a fast-growing, award-winning UK car supermarket known for competitive pricing, a wide stock of vehicles, and a straightforward customer journey. The business aims to make selling or part-exchanging a car simple and convenient for customers.

Key duties

  • Welcome customers and understand what they are looking for.
  • Assess each vehicle in detail and complete a full condition appraisal.
  • Use in-house valuation systems and software to produce a thorough vehicle appraisal.
  • Explain the valuation face to face in a clear and professional way.
  • Negotiate confidently and work toward an agreed purchase or part-exchange value.

What you need

A full UK driving licence is required. The employer notes that any role involving driving company vehicles is subject to a DVLA check, and applicants with six or more penalty points or a previous disqualification may not satisfy insurance requirements.

The ideal candidate will come from a similar environment or from retail sales or customer service, and will be eager to build a career in the automotive sector. A willingness to learn, a practical mindset, and the ability to grow product knowledge quickly are important.

Skills and attributes

  • Strong customer service approach
  • Clear verbal communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Ability to stay effective under pressure
  • Good administrative ability
  • Weekend and Bank Holiday availability
  • Basic understanding of vehicles, makes, and models
  • Mechanical awareness

Training and support

No specialist car knowledge is required at the start, as full in-house training is provided. Training covers vehicle appraisals, how to present valuations, the use of current valuation software, and ongoing support using up-to-date used car market data.

Work style

This is a customer-facing role carried out in person. There is no lead generation, prospecting, or phone sales involved, and the business provides a steady flow of customers whose vehicles need to be valued.
