Overview
ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in the Cheyenne, Wyoming area. The company operates nationwide with a workforce of more than 1,700 employees. In this role, you will help protect gas, electric, and communications infrastructure by accurately marking underground utilities before excavation work begins. The position uses LaunchPoint software to support efficient daily operations.
The pay range for this opportunity is $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on experience.

What You Will Do
- Work independently outdoors, using the company vehicle as a mobile office to complete a daily route of locate requests.
- Identify and mark underground utilities accurately, safely, and efficiently with paint, flags, and occasionally whiskers.
- Receive and manage daily assignments through the mobile work system.
Qualifications and Requirements
- You must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check, and background check.
- This is a safety-sensitive DOT position and must comply with all applicable federal Department of Transportation rules.
- Marijuana use, whether medical or recreational, is not allowed because it remains a Schedule III substance under federal law.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
