Job description
Role overview
Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust is looking for a dependable, proactive Urgent Treatment Centre Wayfinder to help keep patient movement smooth and safe between A&E and the Urgent Treatment Centre. This is a front-facing role focused on guiding patients through the hospital, including access through restricted clinical areas, so they reach the right service quickly and safely.
What the role involves
You will work alongside clinical teams to support patient flow, ease pressure during busy periods, and contribute to a better experience for patients and visitors. The role calls for strong communication, a calm and professional manner, and the confidence to operate in a busy, fast-moving hospital environment.
Key duties
- Offer a highly visible wayfinding and escort service for patients moving between A&E and the Urgent Treatment Centre.
- Help maintain safe and efficient patient movement across departments, especially when the hospital is under pressure.
- Support patients, including those who need help with mobility, so they can reach the correct service without unnecessary delay.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to improve the patient journey and reduce crowding in clinical areas.
- Interact with patients, relatives, and visitors in a courteous, caring, and professional way.
