Job description

About UNIQLO Australia

UNIQLO, the flagship brand of the Fast Retailing Group, operates more than 2,500 stores globally. Australia is an important market in its growth across Asia and Oceania. Since launching its first Melbourne store in April 2014, the business has grown to 41 stores, including e-commerce operations.

To support ongoing expansion in Australia, UNIQLO is looking for recent graduates to join as UNIQLO Management Candidates (UMC).

Why This Program Stands Out

UNIQLO’s promotion model is driven by performance, not tenure or age. High-potential people can be trusted with major store leadership responsibilities in just a few years, including managing larger stores with higher sales, bigger teams, greater customer traffic, and wider product ranges.

The UMC pathway is built to develop future leaders who can innovate, develop people, solve problems, and step into store leadership. The program is intended to prepare participants for Store Manager responsibilities, overseeing a business that can generate millions in annual sales, with long-term growth into broader leadership roles in Australia and internationally.

Role Overview

As a UNIQLO Management Candidate, you will start your career in one of the Australian stores and work toward becoming a Store Manager within 12 months. Training begins with the fundamentals of store operations, including cleaning, folding, and replenishment, so you can fully understand UNIQLO’s operational discipline and customer-first approach.

Alongside day-to-day store learning, you will receive structured training in retail leadership and operations.

Key Duties

  • Deliver a high standard of customer service while protecting the brand experience in store.
  • Lead, encourage, and coach team members to improve output and retention.
  • Build and manage work rosters that keep store operations running efficiently.
  • Review and execute visual merchandising standards in line with brand expectations.
  • Track stock levels and look for ways to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in monthly reviews with your manager and the training center to measure progress and prepare for the Store Manager promotion interview after 12 months.

Training and Career Growth

Successful candidates are expected to move into Store Manager roles and may later progress into more senior store operations positions or other functional career paths within the company.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Must be a recent graduate who completed a Bachelor’s degree or higher within the last 2 years, in any field.
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident, at the time of applying.
  • Should be available to work a store roster, including evenings and public holidays.
  • Preferred to have strong logical reasoning and analytical ability.
  • Needs a clear commitment to the company and the UNIQLO brand.
  • Should have a strong interest in retail and the ambition to grow into a future global business leader.
  • Must be willing to relocate anywhere in Australia at the start of the program, including WA, SA, QLD, VIC, NSW, and ACT.

What’s Offered

  • A permanent, full-time employment contract.
  • Annual compensation of $90,720, inclusive of superannuation.
  • A performance-driven culture with bonus payments twice a year and global profit sharing after one financial year of service.
  • Relocation support for moves between Australian states, where eligible.
  • Employee discount of up to 30%.

Application Process

  1. Online application submission.
  2. Company information session and online competency test.
  3. First interview.
  4. 1.5-day store internship and store assessment.
  5. Final interview.
  6. Background check.
  7. Offer for a 2027 start.
