Job description

Role overview

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is hiring an Undergraduate Nursing Employee for the Rehab Geriatrics 4U4-7 unit at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. This casual, in-person role is part of the clinical stream and is intended for nursing students who want to build confidence and competency while supporting patient-centred care under the supervision of an RN or RPN.

The UNE works as an unregulated member of the care team and contributes within the limits of their nursing education, current competency, the patient’s condition, the level of risk, and the relevant supervision standards, legislation, employer policy, and regulatory requirements. The supervising RN or RPN, together with the UNE, is responsible for making a reasonable and prudent patient care assignment.

The role supports safe nursing practice and expects the student to recognize when consultation or direction is needed. A UNE cannot simultaneously be employed in the same practice setting during a student clinical placement in that setting.
