Job description
Role overview
As a Traveling Assistant Project Manager in mitigation, you’ll play a central role in converting project plans into completed work. This position involves close coordination with leadership to define scopes, organize execution, and keep multiple jobs moving efficiently. You’ll help review subcontractor proposals, build project schedules, track records, and step in to assist crews when the situation calls for it. Consistent focus on safety, quality, and accurate documentation is a key part of the job.
You’ll also monitor budgets, profit margins, and timelines, making timely decisions to keep projects aligned with expectations. The role acts as a communication link between leadership, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, with hands-on responsibility for scopes of work, change orders, and billing. It is suited to someone who can perform well in a fast-moving environment and handle both administrative and operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of day-to-day project coordination, including scope creation, scheduling, budget tracking, and quality oversight.
- Work with leadership, field crews, and subcontractors to carry out work, address issues, and manage change orders.
- Keep jobsite records current, including daily logs, inventories, reports, permits, timesheets, and materials documentation.
- Promote site safety and compliance by leading daily safety discussions, observing site conditions, and reporting incidents or accidents.
- Support operational needs as required, including hands-on tasks, issuing work orders, and reviewing billing.
- Share regular updates on project status, financial performance, gross profit margins, and schedule-related risks.
- Remain available on a 24/7 basis as required by the role.
Experience and education
Candidates should bring leadership experience along with at least 2 years of background in the restoration or construction field. Relevant knowledge should include work related to water, flood, fire, smoke, mold, asbestos, and rebuild remediation. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a degree is preferred. A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
Additional requirements
Employees in certain healthcare-related roles may need to complete extra drug and alcohol screening programs to meet client requirements, including regulations such as Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS) rules in Indiana.
Equal opportunity and compliance
The employer states that it provides equal employment opportunities and does not discriminate or harass on the basis of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, or local law. These principles apply to hiring, promotion, compensation, training, leave, transfer, termination, and all other employment conditions.
The company also participates in E-Verify and will share Form I-9 information with the Social Security Administration and, if needed, the Department of Homeland Security to verify work authorization for new hires.
