Job description
Overview
We seek a seasoned Transportation & Installation Lead specialized in pre-commissioning and de-commissioning of subsea pipelines to oversee and coordinate project activities both onshore and offshore for greenfield and brownfield developments. This role is based in Doha, Qatar, with a work distribution of roughly 70% onshore and 30% offshore. The position is offered on a contractual basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all facets of pipeline pre-commissioning and de-commissioning projects from the planning phase to offshore execution and project closeout.
- Supervise operational tasks including flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrotesting, dewatering, drying, and nitrogen purging processes.
- Oversee offshore de-commissioning operations such as pipeline isolation, depressurization, subsea cutting, retrieval, abandonment, and spool removal.
- Evaluate and approve contractors' pre-commissioning and de-commissioning procedures, methodologies, and method statements.
- Assess engineering calculations covering hydrotesting, pigging, dewatering, drying, nitrogen demands, and temporary equipment requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with contractors, offshore operations teams, VMT, diving, ROV, marine, and HSE personnel.
- Handle punch lists, address technical and site queries, and manage non-conformance issues.
- Provide expert technical guidance during offshore execution, including problem resolution and recovery planning.
- Ensure conformity with safety, environmental, simultaneous operations (SIMOPS), and marine operational standards.
- Coordinate vessel mobilization and offshore activity scheduling.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Subsea Engineering.
- At least 8 years’ offshore installation experience on transportation and installation vessels, including a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Minimum 5 years as a Field Engineer or Site Supervisor onboard installation vessels with a focus on subsea facility de-commissioning.
- In-depth experience with subsea pipeline pre-commissioning and de-commissioning techniques, pipeline pigging, and the use of subsea isolation plugs and de-commissioning equipment.
- Prior supervisory experience with pre-commissioning vessels is essential.
- Strong knowledge of international standards such as DNV-ST-F101, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API, and ISO relevant to pipeline and offshore engineering.
- Experience in submarine pipeline de-commissioning processes including the management of technical plugs for pipeline isolation and abandonment.
- Professional proficiency in English and solid computer skills, especially MS Office.
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to work collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
