Role Overview

The role of Translation Specialist / AI Trainer is a full-time position based on-site in Nairobi. This position entails translating documents, primarily focusing on Spanish and potentially other language combinations, ensuring linguistic accuracy, consistency, and proper use of terminology. The role involves reviewing and editing translated content, managing terminology databases, and working collaboratively to elevate language quality standards.

As an AI Trainer, responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and annotating linguistic datasets that support AI language models, offering constructive feedback on machine-generated translations, and refining operational guidelines for machine-assisted translation tools. Daily activities involve close cooperation with project management, handling client and team communications, and contributing to process enhancements that improve both translation workflows and AI efficacy.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proficient translation abilities, especially with Spanish, to deliver accurate and contextually appropriate content.
• Strong writing and communication skills ensuring clarity, brevity, and cultural appropriateness in internal and external communication.
• Experience in managing terminology including glossary creation, upkeep, and application of style guides.
• Familiarity with CAT tools, translation software, or AI-assisted translation platforms is highly desirable.
• Possession of a bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Languages, Communication, or a related discipline, or commensurate practical experience.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational capabilities and the capacity to handle multiple projects and deadlines on-site.
• Comfort and experience in working with technology, particularly data annotation and quality assurance related to AI language models.
• Previous exposure to professional translation, localization, or language services within the East African context is considered beneficial.
