India Schools Team

The team works efficiently with government stakeholders, creating implementation plans, gathering feedback, and driving continuous improvements based on data and evaluations. With a lean team, they have reached over 100,000 teachers and millions of learners statewide.

Role Overview

The Training Lead - Biology will be pivotal in empowering Biology teachers throughout Andhra Pradesh as part of a tri-party initiative involving UNICEF, the AP education department, and Khan Academy India. You will facilitate capacity-building at multiple levels—mentor teachers who support peers, Biology teachers leveraging Khan Academy and its AI tool Khanmigo, and students improving their learning outcomes particularly girls in Grades 11 and 12.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement a detailed professional development plan engaging teachers, mentors, and principals.
• Enhance classroom teaching and student understanding of Biology concepts, promoting usage of AI teaching assistants such as Khanmigo features like lesson hooks and real-world context tools.
• Coach teachers to employ Khanmigo and digital resources for exploring diverse teaching methods and addressing specific student misconceptions.
• Analyze student data from practice and assessments to identify progress and learning gaps, guiding teachers in tailored interventions.
• Conduct 4-6 field visits monthly to observe mentor teachers, offer feedback, and troubleshoot challenges to deepen adoption of Khan Academy resources.
• Maintain a feedback environment where mentors assess teacher-created materials ensuring quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with mentors as the subject lead, focusing on integrating AI tools to advance Biology teaching and learning.
• Monitor teacher engagement and progress through platform dashboards to identify and support those needing additional assistance.
• Document training activities, attendance, and key findings for reporting purposes.
• Engage in program review meetings, contributing subject-specific expertise to cross-functional teams.
• Provide additional support aligned with program objectives as required.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 5 years experience with at least 3 years as a Biology teacher, preferably from Grades 11 and 12.
• Strong mastery of Grade 11 & 12 Biology subjects combined with the ability to apply knowledge into effective classroom strategies.
• Fluency in Telugu is mandatory.
• Preferred experience in designing and executing training for educators and stakeholders.
• Interest or familiarity with educational technology and AI tools, including prior use of digital platforms for teaching or training.
• Willing to travel within the state for training or school visits up to 50% monthly.
• A passionate commitment to education and making a global impact.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
• An entrepreneurial approach, comfortable with ambiguity and proactive in experimentation and execution.
