Role summary
This full-time, on-site position in Reading is for Traffic Management Operatives who will work on the installation, upkeep, and removal of temporary traffic management setups. The work includes cones, signs, barriers, and traffic lights, all deployed in line with applicable rules and safety requirements.
What you'll do
You will support roadworks and public events, direct vehicles when needed, and carry out on-site risk checks to help protect road users, pedestrians, and work teams. The role also involves speaking with supervisors, customers, and the public, giving clear updates and helpful service while on site. In addition, you will complete job paperwork accurately, carry out routine checks on equipment, and work in line with company procedures and health and safety standards.
Skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate should bring a solid understanding of traffic management and traffic engineering principles, along with the ability to assess situations analytically, read plans, and make practical decisions as site conditions change. Strong verbal communication and a customer-focused approach are important for working effectively with colleagues, clients, and the public. Traffic management qualifications such as sector scheme certifications, a valid UK driving licence, and prior experience on highways or construction sites would be an advantage. The job also requires flexibility for evenings and weekends, comfort with physically demanding work, and consistent adherence to health and safety procedures.
