Job description

Job Overview

This position involves a critical responsibility in managing and enhancing the efficiency and safety of road and transportation infrastructure projects. The Traffic Engineer will analyze traffic behaviors, conduct safety evaluations, and design strategic management plans to improve traffic flow and safety across infrastructure developments in Qatar, contributing significantly to the region’s community mobility and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out comprehensive studies and analyses of traffic patterns to identify trends and inform planning.
  • Assess road safety to detect potential hazards and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Create and implement traffic management strategies aimed at improving the movement of vehicles.
  • Work closely with project teams to embed traffic engineering solutions into larger infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee the functioning of traffic systems and propose enhancements where necessary.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in traffic engineering to maintain up-to-date expertise.
  • Compile detailed reports and documentations concerning traffic project developments.
  • Provide technical advice and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • Ensure adherence to both local and international standards and regulations concerning traffic engineering.
  • Engage in project meetings and contribute actively to project management activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience in traffic engineering or a comparable role.
  • In-depth understanding of traffic analysis methodologies and road safety protocols.
  • Competence in utilizing traffic engineering software and analytical tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking and adept problem-solving capabilities.
  • Capability to work autonomously and juggle multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent skills in communication and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of traffic rules and standards applicable within Qatar.
  • Open to continuous learning and embracing new technologies and industry advances.
  • Possession of a valid professional engineering license or credential eligibility.
  • Mandatory MMUP registration.
