Role overview

This position is focused on building and scaling the physical trading of recycled metals originating from the UK and Europe, covering both ferrous and non-ferrous categories. The role supports wider portfolio growth by sourcing material, developing markets, closing transactions, and strengthening customer relationships across global trade channels.

Business development, sourcing, and market growth

  • Expand the recycled metals trading business in UK and EU origin ferrous and non-ferrous markets.
  • Create new sourcing routes and commercial partnerships with recyclers, processors, merchants, brokers, and industrial suppliers.
  • Spot and pursue sales opportunities with steel mills, foundries, traders, processors, and other buyers in the UK and overseas.
  • Track market movements, pricing patterns, trade flows, and competitor activity to identify profitable trading opportunities.

Trade execution and stakeholder coordination

  • Handle physical recycled metals trades from commercial negotiation through final settlement.
  • Work closely with suppliers, customers, logistics partners, and internal teams to keep shipments and transactions moving efficiently.
  • Negotiate deal terms and manage day-to-day communication with counterparties across multiple regions.
  • Collaborate with logistics, operations, finance, risk, and compliance teams to support smooth shipment, execution, and settlement.
  • Share market intelligence and commercial observations that can improve trading decisions and support business expansion.
