Role Summary
This full-time, permanent role in our Timber & Building trade department encompasses duties at both the Trade Counter and the Timber Yard. Working 40 hours per week, including every Sunday with finishing shifts at 7pm, you will engage in a hands-on, fast-paced customer service role. Your responsibilities will include supporting customers from initial enquiry through to completing their orders with accuracy and efficiency, whether at the counter or in the yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist trade and retail customers with inquiries and purchases of timber and building materials.
- Accurately process transactions and orders at the trade counter.
- Provide customers with practical advice and product recommendations.
- Pick, pack, and prepare trade orders in the timber yard.
- Coordinate pick-ups and deliveries alongside the yard team.
- Operate within the drive-through trade area efficiently.
- Restock inventory and maintain merchandising standards consistently.
- Keep both counter and yard areas clean, organized, and professional.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in timber, building supplies, hardware retail, or trade environments is essential.
- Strong knowledge of timber and building products acquired through trade, construction, DIY, or hardware work.
- A full New Zealand driver's license is required; support to obtain an F endorsement is available through the role.
- Numerical aptitude with confidence in measurements, quantities, and product calculations.
- Comfortable working in both trade counter and timber yard settings.
- Clear, practical communication skills and reliability with a strong work ethic.
- Availability to work a permanent 40-hour weekly roster, including Sundays.
