Role Overview
The full-time Tourist Guide role is based on-site in Bhubaneswar. The guide will lead tours for both individual visitors and groups, delivering engaging, informative narratives about the history, culture, and significant attractions of the locality. Daily responsibilities include greeting guests, outlining tour schedules, responding to participant questions, as well as managing timing and logistics throughout the journey. Coordination with the operations team is essential, along with addressing basic booking inquiries and ethically promoting complementary services or tours. The guide is expected to uphold professional behavior, tailor tours to suit varied audiences, and represent Pranamodisha courteously and respectfully.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated ability in conducting guided tours with substantial knowledge of history and the skill to present it engagingly.
- Excellent communication and customer service capabilities to effectively interact with diverse visitor groups.
- Basic proficiency in sales to promote additional tours and services in a professional and ethical manner.
- Fluency in English and local languages such as Odia or Hindi offers an advantage.
- Strong time management skills, dependability, and capability to work in outdoor, dynamic environments.
- Previous experience in guiding tourists or within hospitality/tourism sectors is preferred.
- Familiarity with local culture, geography, and safety protocols is essential; formal training or certification in tourism or related disciplines is beneficial.
