Job Overview
This role involves performing tire repairs and replacements for light, heavy, and specialized vehicles while strictly following quality and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace.
- Promptly report any damaged or missing tools and equipment to the supervisor.
- Notify the supply custodian in a timely manner about shortages of parts or materials.
- Remove and repair punctures in both tube and tubeless tires.
- Replace tube and tubeless tires on rigid and split rims.
- Operate tire changing and wheel balancing machines efficiently.
- Remove and install wheels on various vehicle types.
- Use materials handling equipment, trolley jacks, portable compressors, and air tools after proper training.
- Adhere strictly to safety, environmental, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) procedures.
- Inspect and ensure serviceability of safety equipment such as tire inflation cages, hydraulic jacks, and axle stands before use.
- Manage assigned personal protective equipment (PPE), inspecting, safeguarding, and requesting replacements when necessary.
- Complete necessary documentation, including work order time tracking and asset/vehicle inspection forms.
- Balance wheels using spin or bubble balancers as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
- Completion of high school or equivalent education.
- Between one to three years of experience working with tire changing machinery.
- Proficiency in English language skills — ability to speak, read, and write.
- Legal authorization to work in the country of employment.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work takes place in a workshop setting with exposure to loud noises, mechanical equipment, and moving parts. The position requires prolonged standing, bending, pushing and testing vehicles or heavy objects, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds. Frequent activities include handling, grasping, kneeling, and sustained visual and mental alertness. Use of safety glasses and hearing protection may be required intermittently. The candidate may also need to obtain and maintain a security clearance and might have to travel occasionally.
