Job Overview

This role is based in a hybrid work setting in Washington, DC, with onsite presence requirements to be determined. The annual salary range offered for this position is $50,000 to $55,000. The Tier 1 IT Service Desk Representative serves as the initial contact for IT support, addressing fundamental technical inquiries and troubleshooting issues within a fast-paced Call Center environment. The representative supports House office staff primarily in the DC campus as well as across nationwide regional offices, managing approximately 50 support tickets per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service during all support interactions, maintaining strict adherence to defined quality standards and emphasizing effective communication skills.
  • Provide front-line Tier 1 technical support through multiple channels including phone, live chat, remote desktop applications, and onsite interventions when necessary.
  • Assist with the installation, setup, and usage of critical software programs and applications.
  • Offer support for mobile platforms, specifically Android and iOS devices.
  • Contribute to creation and improvement of user manuals and installation guides.
  • Provide comprehensive technical assistance ranging from general information to complex configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Issue alerts through various communication methods such as voicemail, websites, newsgroups, and emails.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive knowledge base covering all supported software and a general understanding of hardware and communication tools used.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient in configuring and diagnosing issues in commercial off-the-shelf software and hardware, including PCs, Macs, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
  • Intermediate to advanced familiarity with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of network, physical, and application layers, including experience with TCP/IP tools and commands for troubleshooting.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication abilities, capable of professional interactions with executive staff and management.
  • Ability to perform efficiently in a dynamic environment and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Skills in business and systems analysis to effectively identify and resolve user problems.
  • Minimum of one year experience supporting macOS, remote access tools such as Cisco AnyConnect, and VPNs with RSA SecurID preferred.
  • At least three years experience in IT Call Center settings, Active Directory account management, supporting Windows 10 and Office 365 suites, mobile OS support, Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus, SharePoint, Exchange Online, and mobile device management tools like JAMF, Apple Business Manager, Workspace ONE, or Intune.
  • Five years experience with Incident, Change, or Knowledge Management systems such as BMC Helix (Remedy).
  • A strong desire and aptitude for learning and mastering all supported hardware, software, cloud-based services, and internal policies.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Superior customer service capabilities including clear communication and problem-solving skills; experience in sports or hospitality sectors is advantageous.
  • Self-driven with the capacity to work independently or under supervision as needed.
  • Relevant IT certifications like CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundations, and M365 certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Higher education in a related IT field is preferred but not necessary.
