Test Lead | Kaiarataki Whakamātau

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Test Lead to join our Christchurch office on a fixed term until 30 June 2027. The role involves leading the testing efforts for data product delivery within our data platform, ensuring high-quality outcomes. You will manage a team of testers, coordinate testing activities and collaborate closely with project managers to guarantee exceptional product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement thorough testing strategies and detailed test plans.
• Lead, guide, and support a testing team, promoting a culture of quality and ongoing improvement.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and on-time project completion.
• Quickly gain knowledge about Stats NZ’s operations, including relevant business processes, surveys, and data.
• Identify, monitor, and manage defects utilizing suitable tools.
• Conduct reviews of testing processes to enforce adherence to quality standards and best practices.

Candidate Profile

• At least 5 years’ experience in software testing, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role within a complex, large-scale ICT setting.
• In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies and tools such as Python, Scala, and Selenium.
• Proven experience automating integration and regression tests.
• Strong understanding of data management and application testing, including experience with data platforms in project environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage oneself and effectively collaborate as part of IT project delivery teams.
• Capability to handle multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines reliably.

Salary

The starting salary range for this role is $97,270 to $131,601 per year, plus KiwiSaver contributions.
