About the role

This position is focused on day-time shift leadership in store, where customers remain the priority. The work is varied, team-based, and fast paced, with opportunities to build new capabilities and contribute to an inclusive workplace. Working hours and availability

The role requires availability across a broad window every day of the week: Sunday to Saturday, from 05:00 to 24:00. Shift patterns will be arranged within those availability windows, and colleagues will receive at least 3 weeks’ notice of their rota.

A minimum commitment of 16 hours per week is guaranteed, although positions with 12 hours per week are also available. Candidates whose availability is close to the desired pattern are still encouraged to submit an application.

The role is open only to applicants aged 18 or over.

Pay and contract details

Hourly pay begins at £15.59, with a higher rate of £16.86 per hour in stores located within the M25. Some locations may also include extra payments.

What the role involves

The Shift Leader supports smooth store operations and helps create an excellent customer experience. The position spans all areas of the store and involves being a reliable first point of contact for everyday operational questions. It also calls for confident leadership when the Manager is unavailable, along with the ability to make practical decisions and respond well to changing situations.

The job includes coaching colleagues, offering feedback, and setting a strong example through excellent service. A key part of the role is building respectful, inclusive working relationships so the team can perform at its best. There is also an expectation to keep looking for better ways to serve customers, local communities, and the environment each day.
