Role Summary
The Tender Risk Advisor will support the bidding process by spotting, assessing, and reducing risks tied to tenders, contracts, and commercial proposals. The role is designed to protect the company’s financial, legal, and operational position while keeping bid decisions aligned with governance requirements and the organization’s risk appetite.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine tender packs, contract terms, and commercial submissions to identify possible risk areas.
- Sort risks across financial, legal, operational, and compliance categories.
- Evaluate contractual commitments and overall exposure before submission.
- Carry out partner due diligence and review joint venture-related risk.
- Enhance tender risk tools and keep the central risk register up to date.
- Support stronger internal controls and risk governance practices.
- Build practical mitigation plans and risk-sharing models.
- Suggest contract revisions and clauses that better protect the business.
- Advise on contingencies, guarantees, bonds, and insurance requirements.
- Assist commercial teams in structuring bids and proposals.
- Work closely with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Technical stakeholders.
- Make sure risk recommendations match internal policies and governance rules.
- Lead or contribute to pre-deadline risk review discussions.
- Prepare clear, structured risk assessment reports.
- Present risk observations and recommendations to leadership and committee forums.
- Escalate major risk issues according to the authority matrix.
Requirements
- 15 to 18 years of experience in tender management, contract risk review, or commercial risk advisory.
- Solid knowledge of contract law concepts and how commercial risk is allocated.
- Background in major projects, ideally in construction, engineering, energy, or industrial environments.
- Experience operating within formal governance structures and delegation-of-authority systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Professional credentials such as Certified Risk Management Professional, or a similar qualification, are considered an added advantage.
