Job description

Role overview

This is a full-time office-based position at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital. It is a varied temporary staffing administration role that needs someone adaptable, proactive and comfortable working in a busy environment.

The core purpose of the post is to arrange induction and training for all non-medical staff groups, including new joiners and current staff, so they have the knowledge and skills needed to work on the bank. The role also supports the delivery of efficient and effective temporary staffing services across BCUHB for all non-medical staff groups.

Welsh language skills are desirable. Welsh and English speakers are both encouraged to apply.

Main purpose and day-to-day work

The work moves quickly and priorities can change often, so the postholder must be able to switch between tasks with ease and manage time effectively. The role includes far more than recruitment for the bank and involves a wide mix of duties.

Typical responsibilities include arranging training and shadow shifts, checking training compliance, maintaining electronic records, confirming information for payroll, supporting bank and agency staff, using a range of systems, preparing reports, helping with recruitment and career events, and dealing with queries by phone, email and in person.

This is a team-based role. Although the postholder will manage their own workload, they will also work closely with the local Temporary Staffing team and support other Temporary Staffing teams across BCUHB, as well as colleagues in People Services such as Recruitment, E-Rostering and HR.

Working environment

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales, serving around 700,000 people across North Wales through primary, community, mental health, acute and elective hospital services.

The organisation values compassionate leadership, equality and diversity, and welcomes applications from disabled candidates under the Disability Confident Employer scheme.

Applicants should monitor their email inbox regularly, as all recruitment correspondence is sent to the email address used on the application form. Applications can be made in Welsh, and Welsh-language applications will be treated on an equal basis with English-language applications.

Impact of the role

This post helps maintain safe staffing levels for patients and reduces risk to essential services. It also supports workers into employment, helps them earn additional income, and contributes to accurate and timely pay.

Qualifications and experience

The role asks for strong keyboard ability, qualifications or equivalent experience at NVQ Level 3 standard, and GCSE English or an equivalent qualification. ECDL is preferred but not essential.

Applicants should have experience working in a busy office environment, taking telephone enquiries every day, supporting junior team members, and working in a healthcare environment or a nurse bank office. Experience coordinating training and development packages would be an advantage.
