Position Overview
We are looking for a Telephone Medical Appointment Clerk at the Lincoln Center in San Antonio, TX. This part-time position entails working Monday through Friday within the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The shift duration is nine hours including a one-hour unpaid lunch break, with total weekly hours capped at 40.
Primary Responsibilities
- Handle inbound calls to assist patients with appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling.
- Conduct outbound calls to coordinate referrals for specialty services and primary care visits.
- Confirm patients' eligibility and update demographic details within relevant systems.
- Use electronic health record platforms, such as MHS GENESIS, to manage appointments and consult documentation.
- Process and monitor medical consults according to organizational protocols.
- Address appointment cancellations and respond to voicemail messages promptly.
- Maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Provide exemplary customer service following healthcare and administrative guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Educational attainment of high school diploma or GED at minimum.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong skills in data entry and computer use.
- Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to multitask and coordinate across different teams.
- Excellent customer service orientation and professional telephone manners.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
Preferred Experience
- Previous work experience in healthcare or call center settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of military healthcare systems or electronic health records.
Certifications
Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

- Hourly wage is $19.61.
