Role Overview
Delmec is looking for a Telecoms Rigger to join its team in Carlow. This position focuses on the safe erection, installation, maintenance, and removal of telecoms structures and equipment, with regular work at height and involvement in testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to assemble and install steel structures used to support telecommunications systems.
- Carry out the installation, commissioning, decommissioning, dismantling, and removal of telecoms hardware and cabling.
- Work at height on towers, masts, and poles to fit and service network equipment.
- Install, label, test, and terminate feeder cables, earthing systems, and fibre optic cabling in line with project requirements.
- Prepare accurate site records, equipment logs, survey notes, and installation documentation.
- Perform site audits and inspections as required.
- Identify faults and support the resolution of technical issues and system problems.
- Use tools, instruments, and test equipment correctly, safely, and in good working condition.
- Follow Delmec’s quality standards, environmental commitments, health and safety rules, and safe working procedures.
Requirements
- Prior experience in telecommunications rigging is required.
- Hands-on background in tower erection, antenna systems, and transmission line work on towers, rooftops, and similar structures.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and assembly instructions.
- Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Demonstrated capability to work safely at height.
- Experience with PIM testing equipment, including Kaelus PIM Testers, for fault diagnosis and network troubleshooting.
- Experience using Site Master and cable/antenna analysers for testing transmission lines, feeders, connectors, and antennas.
- Working knowledge of Remote Electrical Tilt systems, including commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with RF testing, sweep testing, return loss, VSWR testing, and site acceptance checks.
- Experience installing and terminating DC power cables and connectors.
- Experience preparing, terminating, and testing feeder cables.
- Ability to install, test, and troubleshoot fibre optic cabling with the relevant equipment.
- Previous exposure to Ericsson and Huawei telecoms equipment is an advantage.
- Valid climbing, rescue, and site access certifications.
- Full, clean driving licence.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
