Job description

About the organisation

Egis is a worldwide company with more than 20,000 people on its team. Headquartered in Paris, it combines international opportunities with local career growth and uses deep technical expertise to deliver practical, innovative outcomes for clients around the world.

The business works across place-making, sustainability and connected cities, with capabilities spanning the full journey from initial advisory through to operations. Its services include advisory, architecture, engineering, design, asset management and operational support.

The company is focused on building strong teams that deliver meaningful work and contribute to positive change. It is also growing in Australia and New Zealand.

Role overview

Due to continued expansion in telecommunications, the company is looking for a Telecoms Designer to join its national telecommunications design function. The role is best suited to someone with substantial design and field experience on recoverable works projects, particularly within Telstra and NBN customer access networks.

Strong familiarity with communications manholes, pits, pipes and cables is expected, along with a solid grasp of telecom civil construction methods. Recent, practical knowledge of Telstra, NBN and Optus external network structures is important. The ability to interpret civil roadworks engineering plans would be an advantage, and broad knowledge of civil construction techniques is highly valued.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend sites to inspect works and collect accurate network information.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, councils, Telstra, other carriers and Main Roads.
  • Create copper and optical fibre relocation designs for recoverable works projects.
  • Develop civil asset relocation designs for recoverable works assignments.
  • Prepare detailed mark-ups for drafting.
  • Check design outputs for accuracy and technical compliance.
  • Produce quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates.
  • Work efficiently to achieve agreed productivity targets.
  • Contribute project management support where required.

Experience and skills required

The role calls for at least 5 years of experience in external telco field works. Prior construction and/or project management experience is needed. Applicants should have operational knowledge of Telstra and NBN systems, a current driver licence, and proven understanding of Telstra/NBN copper networks as well as fibre networks used by Telstra, NBN and other carriers.

AutoCAD capability is beneficial. The successful candidate should also be committed to delivering high-quality outcomes, be self-directed, and be able to work independently.

Working arrangement

This position can be considered on a full-time, part-time or job-share basis. Flexible working arrangements are available, including remote work options. The Brisbane CBD location is also noted.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay and employee benefits.
  • A structured learning and development pathway aligned to career growth.
  • Flexible work options, including remote working from the Brisbane CBD base.
  • An inclusive culture that recognises performance and rewards contribution.
  • Paid primary and secondary carer leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program, professional mentoring and a buddy program for new starters.
  • Opportunities to work on specialist projects.
  • Exposure to government, private and resources-sector projects.
  • Travel opportunities across multiple offices.
  • A collaborative and team-focused workplace.
  • Supportive leadership style built on openness.

Additional information

The organisation values diversity, flexibility, collaboration and professional growth. It aims to provide an environment where employees can connect, learn, progress and succeed while contributing to projects locally and nationally.

This role is a strong fit for a motivated engineer seeking the next step in their career.
