Role Overview
As a Technician specialising in Track Maintenance, you will contribute to the day-to-day upkeep of the rail infrastructure, ensuring safety and efficiency. This hands-on position involves working outdoors alongside your team to inspect, maintain, and repair track components including rails, sleepers, ballast, drainage, and related structures. Note: This role may include an on-call requirement for those on the standard maintenance contract.

Responsibilities
- Perform work safely, following established safe systems of work, method statements, and instructions
- Carry out duties within your training and competencies
- Lead and direct work activities efficiently and in accordance with standards
- Verify quality of work and ensure assets meet compliance standards
- Maintain safe work arrangements for team members and contractors
- Ensure personnel under your supervision have valid competencies
- Confirm vehicles, plant, tools, equipment, and materials are fit for use and properly handled
- Accurately report work status and keep necessary records up to date
- Engage in personal development and support the growth of colleagues
- Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Experience planning and implementing safe systems of work
- Ability to organise and oversee safe and effective work delivery
- Proven capacity to promote and embed safety-focused behaviours within a team
- Leadership skills to motivate and direct a team effectively
- Effective verbal and written communication capabilities
- Familiarity with permanent way inspection, fault identification, maintenance, and renewal techniques
- Understanding of relevant standards, procedures, and work instructions
- Hold or maintain necessary business-required competencies
- Preferably hold or be pursuing an NVQ level 1 or 2 (or equivalent) in a related discipline or have comparable experience
- Willing and able to drive vehicles as needed
