Technician / Tooling Specialist (f/m/d) Gas Service

Role overview

In this role, you will work closely with Field Service teams around the world, tooling hubs, and regional partners to keep tooling records, standards, and kit configurations accurate and up to date. Your workday will combine hands-on coordination, data maintenance, documentation review, and regular alignment meetings focused on operational requirements, outages, and ongoing improvements. You will also evaluate tool kits, review feedback and lessons learned, support decisions across the tool lifecycle, and occasionally visit sites to inspect tooling condition and compliance. In addition, you will help build and share knowledge and prepare for future training responsibilities, with a strong focus on safety, availability, and global standardization.

Key responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and continuously improve tooling data, tool kits, and related standards so global operations can run efficiently.
• Own the quality of tooling master data, including specifications, drawings, certificates, inspection documentation, and compliance with naming rules used worldwide.
• Support the full lifecycle of tools, from introducing new equipment to retiring obsolete assets, while keeping the associated documentation current.
• Provide dependable data support for outage planning, purchasing, and Tool Center activities, ensuring tools are ready for operational use.
• Standardize and improve tool kits by using fleet changes, operational needs, and input from outages and regional teams.
• Carry out site-based tooling assessments and support EHS and ZERO HARM goals through knowledge transfer and preparation for training duties.

Required background and experience

• Finished technician training or a vocational qualification from the IHK in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Strong understanding of tooling, including power tools, hydraulic tools, measuring instruments, hand tools, and lifting equipment; exposure to manufacturing processes is an advantage.
• Practical experience using SAP and Microsoft Office 365 for data management and analysis.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with a methodical and precise way of working.
• Very good English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in international and multicultural settings with shifting priorities.
• Genuine interest in sharing knowledge and growing into a training-oriented role, supported by a proactive mindset and a focus on continuous improvement.
