Job description

Job Overview

The Technician I role focuses on supporting maintenance technicians by performing upkeep and routine services on grounds and non-technical components of facilities such as walls and floors. All tasks are carried out adhering strictly to established procedures and various compliance standards including environmental, health and safety, and fire regulations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute work following established guidelines and best practices.
  • Ensure full adherence to internal protocols and external regulations covering environment, safety, and fire protection.
  • Conduct consistent monitoring and inspection of facilities and their non-technical elements.
  • Report conditions and deficiencies observed within facility structures and grounds, recommending methods for repairs or improvements.
  • Perform facility walkthroughs to assess maintenance needs, respond to service requests, and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Operate facility mechanical and electrical systems as required.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of work orders from assignment through completion, documenting outcomes in the maintenance database and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Support implementation and upkeep of the preventive maintenance program, identifying and escalating any issues and maintaining dedicated records.
  • Foster positive client interactions and tenant satisfaction through professional work execution.
  • Keep accurate administrative records related to maintenance tasks including approval processes, project participation, tool maintenance, and expenditure reporting.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Up to one year of experience in facility operations and maintenance work.
  • Ability to follow detailed processes and facility maintenance best practices.
  • Capability to monitor and maintain both grounds and facility’s non-technical components.
  • Research and progressively learn fire, life safety, and building codes applicable to the role.
  • A strong commitment to environmental, health, and safety standards with a safe working attitude.
  • Client-focused with a high sense of urgency and strong communication skills for effective data exchange and feedback.
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts and be available for on-call or emergency situations.
  • Compliance with enhanced security clearance requirements.
  • Readiness to wear mandatory personal protective equipment.
  • Interest in pursuing or currently enrolled in trades certification or license programs related to the role.

Compensation

This permanent full-time position offers an hourly wage between $20.11 and $23.65, dependent on experience, education, and performance.
