Role Overview

Gritter Francona seeks a skilled Technical Writer/Editor to create, edit, and review diverse written content supporting the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) National Center for PTSD's educational media projects. This role involves converting scientific data, clinical protocols, and technical material into clear, accessible language tailored for Veterans, trauma survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and the wider public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and revise various texts that support educational videos and outreach efforts.
  • Produce and edit multiple forms of communication including reports, newsletters, brochures, training guides, fact sheets, speeches, scripts, press releases, website content, and more.
  • Translate complex scientific and clinical information into plain language suitable for general audiences.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, grammar, readability, and alignment with clinical guidance in all written materials.
  • Work collaboratively with SMEs, clinicians, researchers, project managers, and government stakeholders to verify content accuracy.
  • Edit scripts and production documents to align with evidence-based standards and messaging goals.
  • Apply federal plain language principles to enhance clarity and audience understanding.
  • Maintain a tone that is serious yet hopeful, emphasizing trauma-informed and culturally sensitive communication about PTSD and related conditions.
  • Manage review processes including government feedback incorporation, version control, and editorial uniformity.
  • Verify all citations, terminology, formatting, and compliance with accessibility and branding standards.
  • Support public awareness campaigns such as PTSD Awareness Month by developing promotional educational materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Public Health, Health Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in technical writing and editing pertinent to healthcare, government, educational, or scientific organizations.
  • Proven track record of producing professional written content that meets high editorial standards.
