Job description

Role overview

This contract opportunity is for a Technical Product Owner to join an agile team supporting a CRM platform. The assignment runs for 12 months and is based in Markham, Ontario in a hybrid working setup. The role calls for someone who can partner confidently with senior leaders, steer agile delivery, and take part in in-depth technical conversations with architects, developers, and business partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of coordination between business stakeholders, technology teams, and leadership.
  • Maintain ownership of the product backlog, priorities, roadmap, and delivery plan.
  • Facilitate core agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Convert business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements.
  • Work in close partnership with development, architecture, QA, and business groups to support successful solution delivery.
  • Lead discussions with executives and senior stakeholders while also contributing to detailed technical dialogue.
  • Review business workflows, spot improvement opportunities, and suggest technology-based solutions.
  • Drive requirements discovery, process mapping, and solution documentation.
  • Track project risks, dependencies, and delivery milestones.
  • Keep product direction, business goals, and technology capabilities aligned.
  • Support change management, stakeholder communication, and adoption efforts as needed.
  • Promote agile best practices and ongoing improvement within the delivery team.

Requirements

  • 7 to 15 years of experience in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, Agile Delivery, or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated success as a Technical Product Owner in an enterprise setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and product management principles.
  • Experience taking on Scrum Master duties alongside product ownership responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate across Product Ownership, Scrum Master, and Business Analysis tasks as needed.
  • Solid technical understanding of architecture, integrations, APIs, data flows, and modern application development concepts.
  • Prior experience with CRM platforms and customer-focused technology solutions is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively to both business leaders and technical teams.
  • Comfortable questioning assumptions, guiding decisions, and pushing initiatives toward results.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in large enterprise environments is preferred.

Additional information

The engagement is a 12-month contract. The role is based in Markham, Ontario and follows a hybrid work model.
