Job description

Role Overview

PacificLight Power Pte Ltd is looking for a Technical Officer to support field operations at its Singapore power plant. The role focuses on safe and reliable plant operation, event response, equipment monitoring, routine testing, and coordination with control room teams to maintain efficient unit performance.

Key Duties

  • Perform day-to-day field operational tasks, including isolation and normalisation work, in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Spot faulty plant or equipment and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Record operating readings and equipment data accurately in the required logs.
  • Act promptly and correctly when system issues or operational emergencies occur.
  • Conduct routine plant testing and scheduled auxiliary equipment changeovers based on approved work instructions and timetables.
  • Support CCR personnel in keeping operational records complete, accurate, and current.
  • Help track plant performance and contribute to maintaining optimal unit efficiency.
  • Examine plant irregularities and suggest the appropriate actions during shift events such as plant trips, unit deration, or fire incidents.
  • Prepare generating unit activities for synchronisation and startup in line with the real-time dispatch plan.
  • Carry out basic first-level maintenance when instructed by the Shift Leader.
  • Monitor plant condition through first-level condition checks.
  • Coordinate on-the-job training for newly joined team members.

Requirements

  • A Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Applicants with a Higher NITEC may also be considered if they have strong, relevant experience.
  • Diploma holders should have 2 to 5 years of experience in Combined Cycle Power Plants or a related industry.
  • Higher NITEC holders should have 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in Combined Cycle Power Plants or related industries.
  • Must be self-driven, able to work independently, and comfortable using analytical and communication skills in a team environment.
  • Good understanding of plant processes and operational practices is needed.
  • Must be able to distinguish colours accurately, as the job involves handling equipment and machinery where colour recognition is required.
  • Must be willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and/or 10:00 pm to 10:00 am.
  • Role is based in Jurong Island, Singapore.
