Technical Consultant - Vaccination Program

Overview

We are looking for a Vaccination Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide expert guidance on immunization registries and vaccination processes. This role involves collaborating with technical and data teams to design, configure, and enhance Immunization Information Systems (IIS), ensuring compliance with interoperability standards and regulatory reporting.

Key Duties

• Manage the functional setup of immunization registry workflows, encompassing vaccine ordering, population oversight, duplication management, and ambiguous identification handling.
• Collaborate with integration teams to define HL7 VXU/ACK message mappings, validation procedures, and standard vocabulary implementation (CVX, MVX).
• Draft technical specifications for FHIR Immunization resources and associated APIs.
• Review and validate immunization reports and dashboards to confirm precise measurement of coverage, completeness, and compliance indicators.
• Assist data science groups with defining data features and labels for vaccination forecasting and risk assessment models.
• Lead user acceptance testing, conduct stakeholder presentations, and provide training to end users.
• Act as the primary escalation resource for complex vaccination functionality issues.
• Create and keep updated standard operating procedures, immunization schedules, and other operational documents.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Informatics, Pharmacy, or a comparable discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in immunization programs, vaccine registries, or vaccine management applications.
• Practical expertise with one or more Immunization Information Systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of regional or national immunization programs and related registries.
• Proficiency with HL7 v2.x VXU messaging, acknowledgment message processing, and CVX/MVX terminologies.
• Familiarity with FHIR R4 resources such as Immunization, Patient, and Encounter data models.
• Understanding of how analytics and machine learning support immunization initiatives like coverage prediction and risk scoring.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic language skills highly desirable.
• Preferred experience working in GCC or Middle Eastern public health settings.
