Job description

About the role

AVO Mobility is working to reshape everyday city travel through Avocargo, an initiative that makes electric cargo bikes accessible to individuals and businesses. The company believes cargo bikes can become a real alternative to cars by removing the practical barriers that still stand in the way. This position is for a Team Member Operations (w/d/m) based in Berlin, supporting the founding team as the business pilots and grows.

The team encourages applicants to reach out even if they do not meet every single point in the profile, especially those from groups that are often discouraged from applying unless they match all criteria. The company is open to conversations with people who may still be a strong fit.

Responsibilities

  • Work side by side with the founding team to run and scale the Avocargo fleet during the pilot phase and wider rollout across Berlin.
  • Create, improve, and document the operational playbook for the company.
  • Spot opportunities to make operations better, test new approaches, and put the best ideas into practice.
  • Serve as the main contact for external operations partners.
  • Collect feedback and observations that can inform future product and service improvements.
  • Move and clean vehicles, exchange batteries, and coordinate bike repairs.
  • Help expand the operations team in Berlin and, over time, in other locations as well.

Requirements

  • You adapt quickly when circumstances change.
  • You already have some background in operations.
  • You are driven by the impact your work can have on the wider business and on your own area of responsibility.
  • You enjoy an environment where experimentation and learning from mistakes are part of the process.
  • You take initiative, notice what needs attention, and prioritize issues sensibly.
  • You are comfortable with hands-on work.
  • You bring at least one important skill that is not yet covered by the existing AVO Mobility team.
  • You have a strongly agile mindset and a bias toward getting things done.
  • Previous startup experience or experience in a small, resourceful team, possibly even in a founding role, is considered an advantage.
  • German language ability is helpful.
  • Experience working with cities and communities is helpful.
  • Prior leadership experience is helpful.
  • A strong interest in mobility and/or sustainability is helpful.

Additional information

This is a chance to help shape a company at an early stage. Your contribution will play a key role in getting Avocargo on the road, and the team hopes you will later look back on this as one of the most exciting periods of your professional life. The company wants to learn quickly and deeply, together with you and from you. You will also get plenty of opportunities to ride electric cargo bikes.

Application instructions

Applicants are asked to send their application materials, including any documents, references, or links they would like the team to review, by email to the company contact address provided in the source. The team aims to respond as quickly as possible.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
