Job description

About the Company

AVO Mobility is working to transform urban transportation through its cargobike sharing service, Avocargo. The platform makes electric cargobikes available to both individuals and businesses. For private users and families, the service helps carry people and items with ease. For companies, especially those in delivery, it offers a way to move bulky and heavy goods without maintaining a dedicated vehicle fleet.

The company believes cargobikes have strong potential and wants to remove the obstacles that keep them from becoming a real alternative to cars. The team is building a solution that is sustainable, practical, and enjoyable to use.

This position is for a (Senior) Designer focused on User Research, User Experience, and User Interface, supporting the team either in Berlin or remotely.

The company also encourages applicants from underrepresented groups to apply even if they do not meet every single requirement, and welcomes a conversation to assess fit more broadly.

Your Impact

  • Develop a deep understanding of both B2C and B2B user needs through research, interviews, and direct user experiences, and distribute those insights across the team.
  • Improve the consumer product journey and contribute to the growth of new features, including subscriptions.
  • Collaborate on the development of the B2B product with pilot partners.
  • Work in a cross-functional way with product managers, developers, and operations to create a seamless experience for everyone involved.
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, and other visual concepts that support testing, iteration, and implementation of new or enhanced features.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in UX and UI design.
  • Comfort working with Design Thinking, Lean Startup, and agile ways of working.
  • Good German language skills that enable you to understand the needs of users and customers.
  • Ability to create solutions that are simple to use and visually appealing.
  • Fast adaptation to changing situations.
  • Strong motivation to see how your work influences the business overall.
  • Interest in an environment where experimentation and learning from mistakes are encouraged.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to spot problems and prioritize them sensibly.
  • Willingness to get involved in hands-on tasks.
  • Bringing at least one unique strength or skill not currently present in the AVO Mobility team.
  • Strong agile mindset and a bias toward getting things done.

Preferred but Not Mandatory

  • Experience working in startups or similarly small, fast-moving teams.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Strong interest in mobility and/or sustainability.
  • A portfolio showing past work such as prototypes, wireframes, personas, user stories, or interaction concepts.

Working arrangements are highly flexible. You may choose to work from the office or from home, including from outside Berlin, although occasional or more frequent visits may be needed. Working hours are self-determined, and part-time arrangements or other flexible setups may also be possible to suit personal needs.
