About the Role
Fonterra Te Mātāpuna invites you to join as a Team Manager for our Fleet Services team based in Pahiatua. Reporting directly to the Transport Operations Manager, this full-time role operates Monday through Friday, focusing on leading day-to-day fleet servicing activities with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, and alignment with business targets.
As the Team Manager, you will oversee the people, vehicles, and equipment essential for the safe and effective maintenance of Fonterra’s fleet. Collaborating with various stakeholders, you will ensure fleet availability meets both scheduled and unexpected business demands.
Responsibilities
This key leadership role entails coaching your team, managing workflows, monitoring performance, and nurturing a positive, collaborative work culture. You'll identify and communicate issues impacting milk collection or quality promptly, aiding operational decisions. You will champion safety, food safety, quality compliance, continuous improvement, and service excellence to support Fonterra’s operational standards and food safety commitments.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced people leader adept at fostering team cohesion, capability-building, and creating a supportive performance environment. You bring a practical, solutions-oriented approach to handling operational priorities in a fast-moving setting.
Your operational experience includes managing daily workflows, service levels, and resources effectively. Your leadership will be collaborative yet clear, with capability to coach, provide feedback, address underperformance, and maintain strong internal and external partnerships.
Key required skills and attributes include:
- Proven leadership in fast-paced operational settings including team coaching and development
- Strong operational management experience overseeing workflows and resource allocation
- Ability to manage performance matters including reviews and feedback
- Experience building robust stakeholder relationships and collaborating across teams
- Participation in continuous improvement or cultural change initiatives
- Experience with large workshop environments
- Capabilities in planning, rostering, and ensuring adequate team coverage
- Commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing with risk management focus
- Understanding of compliance, governance, food safety, and quality standards
- Effective communication for reporting performance and operational updates
