About the Role
GEMS Jumeirah Primary School in Dubai seeks dedicated and enthusiastic Emirati UAE Nationals to join our vibrant school community as Teaching Assistants. The school caters to children aged 3 to 11 years, following the British curriculum and holds an Outstanding KHDA rating. Our focus is on fostering children's learning and wellbeing in a supportive environment.
Location and Schedule
- Based in Al Safa 1, Dubai, UAE
- Full-time role
- Working days from Monday to Thursday, 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM
- Fridays from 7:15 AM to 11:30 AM
- Position follows term-time schedule, with holidays off
Primary Responsibilities
- Support teachers in all learning activities, embodying the GEMS core values
- Assist with reading and literacy tasks
- Lead small group activities inside or outside the classroom as directed
- Prepare and tidy learning materials and classrooms
- Create and mount work displays
- Photocopy and prepare educational worksheets
- Temporarily cover classes during emergencies
- Organize stock cupboards and distribute materials as needed
- Attend to children's personal needs, including toilet breaks and cleaning when necessary
- Gain knowledge of curriculum elements like literacy, numeracy, and phonics
- Ensure adherence to all school policies and procedures
- Contribute additional effort and energy for demanding tasks
- Participate in staff meetings and committees
- Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisors
Qualifications and Skills
- Good general education, especially strong in Maths and English
- Effective communication skills
- Proficient written and spoken English
- Basic ICT skills preferred
- Able to multitask and work under pressure
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues
- Previous experience supporting teaching or working with children favored
