Position Summary

We are seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to contribute to full-cycle recruitment within the organization, partnering closely with hiring managers to source and attract outstanding candidates whose values align with Humber River Health's dedication to exceptional patient care. This role reports to the Director, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards and People Analytics and is based at the Wilson site of Hennick Humber Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily recruitment functions including requisition review and approval, job posting creation, candidate screening and shortlisting, coordinating interviews, facilitating job offers and employment contract preparation, and organizing onboarding for new hires.
  • Proactively understand recruitment demands within assigned portfolios and develop innovative initiatives to meet staffing needs.
  • Advise hiring managers on competency-based behavioral interviewing techniques and suitable skills assessments.
  • Participate in shaping recruitment strategies, recommending continuous improvements and modern procedures to enhance quality.
  • Collaborate with People Services colleagues and various management levels to ensure effective recruitment processes.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for hiring managers concerning recruitment, providing consultation and support to address hiring challenges.
  • Stay informed of client needs through regular meetings with program directors, managers, and operational teams.
  • Guide hiring managers in sourcing options, assisting in the development of accurate and engaging job postings aligned with job descriptions.
  • Ensure recruitment activities comply with hospital policies, the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and accessibility legislation.
  • Represent the organization at job fairs, campus recruitment events, and career fairs as needed.
  • Develop attractive job advertisements that appeal to qualified candidates.
  • Maintain and support the iCIMS applicant tracking system, assisting managers and directors in using the platform effectively.
  • Partner with Strategic Human Resources Business Partners on workforce planning, including demographic analysis and staffing forecasts anticipating service delivery changes.
  • Escalate complex recruitment issues to Strategic HR Business Partners or the Director, Talent Acquisition.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Human Resource Management.
  • Possession of CHRL or CHRP designation with the Human Resources Professional Association or progress toward obtaining one is preferred.
  • At least three years of recruitment experience, ideally within healthcare settings or unionized environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume recruitment in fast-paced environments, with expertise in behavioral interviewing.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant labor legislation, HR policies, and employee relations.
  • Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems, preferably iCIMS, and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, coupled with a customer service orientation.
  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Analytical ability to probe information and present findings clearly and on time.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in employee relations is an asset; commitment to advancing inclusive workplace practices is valued.

Compensation and Terms

This position is temporary full-time employment through December 31, 2026, with work hours Monday through Friday during the day, requiring flexibility. Salary range is $75,585.90 to $94,541.85 per year. The work location is Hennick Humber Hospital, Wilson site in Toronto, Ontario.
