Job description

Role overview

Upstream Rehabilitation is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist/Sourcer to strengthen its hiring team. In this role, you will proactively find and engage strong candidates for clinical and administrative positions, with a primary focus on Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. The position uses market intelligence, labor trends, and advanced sourcing methods to support hiring needs.

You will partner closely with business leaders, recruiters, and HR to understand workforce requirements and help shape sourcing plans that support the organization’s mission and future growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with recruiters and Talent Acquisition Managers to understand current and expected staffing needs for PTs and PTAs.
  • Identify both active and passive candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, resume databases, professional groups, and social media channels.
  • Research market conditions and analyze hiring trends to guide sourcing decisions and deliver useful talent insights.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified PT and PTA talent across multiple regions by learning candidate needs and building relationships.
  • Run introductory outreach and screening conversations to evaluate interest and suitability.
  • Create and manage sourcing metrics and reports to measure strategy effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about state licensure rules and local market trends affecting physical therapy hiring.
  • Represent the company at career fairs, virtual events, and other networking opportunities in the industry.
  • Work with employer branding partners to craft engaging outreach messages and content.
  • Keep candidate records and communications accurately updated in the applicant tracking system and CRM.
  • Be available for occasional travel related to training or other job duties.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is required, though a suitable mix of education and relevant recruiting or industry experience, including comparable hands-on experience, may be accepted instead. The role calls for strong written and verbal communication, a professional approach to candidate engagement, strong organization, attention to detail, and good follow-through. Candidates should be comfortable using Microsoft Office and show a strong interest in data and technology.

Preferred background

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in recruiting, sourcing, sales, customer service, or a similar field.
  • 1 year of campus or university recruitment experience, such as DPT or PTA programs.
  • Prior recruitment experience in outpatient physical therapy, rehabilitation, or allied health services.
  • Specialized recruiting credentials, such as Certified Healthcare Recruiter (CHR), are a plus.

Core competencies

  • Strong sourcing expertise or the ability to grow into a subject matter expert.
  • Solid grasp of advanced sourcing approaches and key recruiting and HR practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of healthcare labor markets and workforce trends, or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Comfort working with recruiting platforms, ATS tools, and related software.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with care and discretion.
  • Sound judgment with the ability to anticipate needs and resolve issues proactively.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and clear communication.
