About the Team
The Observability Squad is responsible for the ongoing management of ASB Bank's key monitoring platform, ensuring system stability, security, and availability through strong operational practices. The team handles tasks such as patching, certificate management, platform monitoring, and responding to operational demands that keep the bank's systems functioning smoothly. This is a practical, hands-on environment ideal for engineers eager to develop robust DevOps skills and understand how complex enterprise platforms operate, with clear advancement opportunities after mastering foundational tasks.
Role Overview
This position entails maintaining and supporting critical, high-availability infrastructure services across ASB's technology systems. Emphasis is placed on operational excellence, comprehensive understanding of enterprise environments, and fostering strong engineering habits essential for secure and reliable system performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Executing daily operational activities to maintain platform stability and security
- Monitoring system health and addressing service requests promptly
- Administering security updates and patches for Microsoft and Linux servers
- Handling certificate and other security artifact renewals and management
- Conducting regular performance and capacity assessments to ensure optimal system functioning
- Keeping technical documentation and operational runbooks current and accurate
- Advancing automation efforts and applying industry best practices
- Adhering to change, incident, and problem management protocols
- Collaborating with peers and senior engineers to learn, troubleshoot, and enhance service quality
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an infrastructure engineer or a professional aiming to deepen their experience in enterprise systems. A solid grasp of fundamental technical concepts, eagerness to learn, and dedication to performing foundational duties excellently are crucial, recognizing their vital role in system reliability.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 7 years supporting enterprise IT environments
- Hands-on experience with Windows and/or Linux server platforms
- Fundamental knowledge of networking components including load balancers, firewalls, and certificates
- Familiarity with ITIL or similar structured service management methodologies
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in infrastructure engineering
