Role overview

MEMX is hiring a Systems Reliability Operator to support its exchange platforms during the overnight U.S. shift. This position is focused on maintaining platform stability, responding to incidents, and helping keep operations running smoothly across a complex, cross-functional environment.

Working hours

  • Sunday 10 pm ET to Monday 8 am ET
  • Monday 10 pm ET to Tuesday 8 am ET
  • Tuesday 10 pm ET to Wednesday 8 am ET
  • Wednesday 10 pm ET to Thursday 8 am ET
  • Thursday 10 pm ET to Friday 8 am ET

Key responsibilities

  • Support MEMX exchange platforms, including on-call coverage, incident response, and issue triage.
  • Investigate and help resolve unexpected system outages.
  • Partner with market operations, systems, networking, and development teams to keep exchange platforms available.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational workflows such as deployments and upgrades.
  • Record actions and findings in a way that supports repeatable and eventually automatable procedures.
  • Troubleshoot problems across multiple services and integration points.
  • Improve monitoring and alerting by focusing on symptoms and operational signals.
  • Execute nightly processes that are essential to exchange operations, including steps that still require manual attention.

Required background

  • Strong working knowledge of Linux, including comfort using the Linux shell.
  • Intermediate to advanced Linux administration and scripting ability.
  • Solid Bash scripting experience.
  • Experience using a configuration management platform such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Familiarity with monitoring systems.
  • Exposure to incident management or ticketing tools and escalation workflows.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an operations support role involving incident response.
  • Curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to dig into problems.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on improving the platform.
  • Comfort working collaboratively to refine existing processes.
  • Bias toward fast delivery and iterative improvement.
  • Trading or exchange domain experience is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Alignment with the company’s values and ways of working.
