Systems Engineer - Tier II/III ESC Support (TS/SCI)

About the Role

SMX is searching for a Systems Engineer to deliver advanced Tier II and Tier III enterprise assistance for the European Support Center in Wiesbaden, Germany. This individual will act as the main escalation contact for intricate infrastructure, virtualization, and intelligence system challenges, while offering engineering support to both local Tier II teams and Tier III teams across Europe. The role liaises closely with US-based teams in engineering, cybersecurity, and networking to diagnose enterprise infrastructure faults, conduct root cause assessments, and apply durable technical resolutions that support CI-DPED, DCGS, and other vital intelligence missions. Candidates should be proficient systems engineers with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise support, whose focus is on maximizing system availability and readiness worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive systems engineering assistance.
• Serve as the on-site Subject Matter Expert for Converged Infrastructure (CI) Distributed Processing, Exploitation, Dissemination (DPED) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environments and Distributed Common Ground System-Army (DCGS) services.
• Act as the main point of contact for the US Army to troubleshoot and resolve intelligence architecture problems.
• Offer detailed technical support to diagnose problems and develop solutions.
• Collaborate with US engineers to resolve issues and develop new features.
• Conduct root cause analyses on user issues by reproducing problems using product designs, specifications, or code.
• Support system maintenance activities including backups and resiliency planning.
• Identify operational issues, document them, and implement corrective actions.
• Work collaboratively with DoD and contract network engineers and field technicians in Germany, Hawaii, and CONUS.
• Provide support remotely or onsite for troubleshooting tasks beyond Germany within the global CI DPED scope as directed.
• Deliver direct technical and project management support to the INSCOM G7 Forward Liaison in Wiesbaden, supporting the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade and its units regarding CI DPED and DCGS.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant specialized experience, or
• An associate degree plus at least 7 years of relevant specialized experience, or
• A major professional certification plus 7 years of relevant specialized experience, or
• A minimum of 11 years of relevant specialized experience without formal degree.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain a polygraph.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with DCGS-A.
• Experience with Aerial Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (AISR).
• Strong knowledge of vSphere/ESXi virtualization technologies.
• Proven track record in analytical troubleshooting at Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels.
• VMware certifications in relevant domains.
• Comprehensive cybersecurity expertise.

Compensation and Additional Information

The position will be based full-time onsite in Wiesbaden, Germany. SMX determines salary considering location, federal contract categories, experience, skills, education, and certifications. Benefits include health insurance, paid leave, and retirement plans. Salary range is $85,000 to $115,000 USD annually.
